UNITED NATIONS SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT NETWORK: Call for Submissions for the CSocD55 Photo Exhibition

For 2017, the 55th session of the Commission for Social Development (CSocD55) has selected the following priority theme: "Strategies for the eradication of poverty to achieve sustainable development for all". As part of its activities for CSocD55, the UNDESA's Division for Social Policy and Development (DSPD) is hosting a photo exhibition at United Nations Headquarters in New York City from 1-10 February 2017, during the Commission. Photos selected for the exhibition will be viewed by the many visitors to the UN, including government officials, experts, and NGO representatives during this important event, and will be included in an online exhibition brochure distributed to key partners and stakeholders.

Global Sustainable Transport Conference in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan

United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon will convene the first-ever Global Sustainable Transport Conference from 26-27 November 2016 in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan.

The Conference will be held at the highest level and will bring together key stakeholders from Governments, the private sector, and civil society to engage in dialogue that emphasizes the integrated and cross-cutting nature of sustainable transport. All modes of transport - road, rail, aviation and maritime - will be addressed as well as transport both in urban and rural areas, energy and transport, public transport, countries in special situations, road safety, and financing for sustainable transport, as well as finding a new paradigm for transport sustainability.

Geneva Peace Week, 7 - 11 November 2016

We are pleased to share the final programme of the third edition of Geneva Peace Week that will take place from 7 to 11 November 2016.
Over five days, Geneva Peace Week will be the umbrella for 52 events with over 100 speakers organized by 55 institutions. The events will feature substantive and original contributions about building peace and resolving conflict. Geneva Peace Week will highlight that each and every person, actor and institution has a role to play in building peace. It will also emphasize the importance of working outside the silos and enable more creative responses in a variety of contexts.

UN World Data Forum 2017 - Cape Town, South Africa
The first UN World Data Forum will take place in Cape Town, South Africa, from 15-18 January 2017, hosted by the Government of South Africa and Statistics South Africa.
The Forum will bring together key experts from governments, businesses, civil society and the scientific and academic communities to discuss opportunities and challenges and showcase the latest innovations to improve data and statistics for the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

UNOG Director-General's Meeting with NGOs - 7.10.2016

We are pleased to invite you to the bi-annual meeting of Mr. Michael Møller, the Director-General of the United Nations at Geneva (UNOG) with NGOs, which will take place on Friday, 7 October 2016 at 15:00 in Room V, Palais des Nations
