In 2015, the Principality of Monaco welcomes Russia

“2015 – Russian Year in Monaco” groups together, under one heading, a range of events organised on Monegasque territory that showcase the shared heritage and historical and cultural ties that link these two States.
This year will also highlight relations between Monaco and Russia in the most varied fields – science, education, sport, gastronomy, fashion, etc.
The aim of “Russian Year in Monaco” is to pay tribute to these many and often ancient links and also raise public awareness of Russian culture and traditions.
Dance, with the Bolshoi Ballet, painting, music and opera … as well as Russian folk arts and history. The aim of this artistic profusion is to broaden the vision that we might have of this great country and emphasise what Russia has brought to the Principality over the years.
Despite the difference in size of the two countries, “Russian Year in Monaco” also aims to encourage the development of various initiatives and cooperation.

After a week-long event, the UN Public Service Forum culminated with the UN Public Service Award Ceremony honoring 22 institutions from 18 countries. “By addressing the underlying needs of their population like education, healthcare and a safe and sustainable environment, these initiatives will act as catalysts and unleash the dreams of their citizens to channel their true potential,” said Lenni Montiel, UN DESA’s Assistant Secretary-General for Economic Development as he acknowledged the winners.
